Il Ji Mae - The Phantom Thief, a 2008 Korean Drama, starring Jun Gi Lee as Iljimae a.k.a Yongi a.k.a Geom Lee.

Synopsis of Il Ji-Mae:

Young Geom Lee (by Jun Gi Lee) comes from a noble’s family. But one night he has to witnessed the death of his father, Lee Won Ho, when the apricot tree blossoms were in full bloom. Hiding inside a small cupboard, young Geom Lee sees the sword with black emblem engraved that kills his father.

His father is accused as a slander, his whole family is being caught while he manages to escapes and living the life of a beggar. Due to the sudden shock, Geom Lee losses his memory and grows up to be a useless gangster in the marketplace with a new name, Yongi.

One day he remembers his past and wants to reunite with his mother and sister. He manages to look for his sister and they are about to reunite when an unfortunate event happens. The government finds out that she is the daughter of Lee Won Ho the traitor hence she is executed to call Geom Lee a.k.a Yongi out. From that day onwards, Yongi declares to go for a revenge.

During night time, he turns to be a robber who robs the corrupt government officials and give to the poor people. He always leaves a drawing of a plum tree’s wooden branch at the robbery’s site. People recognizes him as IlJiMae.
